What Flowforest is
Flowforest studies how people actually work, then makes tools for the gaps it finds. We focus on the independent practitioner, the small operator, the household, and the person building a life outside the defaults of large platforms.
We start with research because the right design begins with the right question. The products are where that understanding becomes useful.

Our principles
Individuals should own their data, their files, their knowledge. Not lease it.
We make opinionated tools for individuals: clear in their purpose, coherent in their design, and shaped around the person using them.
Knowledge infrastructure — storage, notes, workflow — should be portable and local-first wherever possible, not locked inside someone else's platform.
Independence from large platforms is a feature, not a constraint to design around.
Tools should adapt to the person using them, not require the person to adapt to the tool.
A good tool fades into the work. A bad tool inserts itself, asks for attention, collects telemetry, and reshapes the user around its business model.
How we work
We look at what someone is trying to do, where it breaks down, and what surrounds it. Research helps us understand the problem before we decide what to make. Design turns that understanding into tools suited to real life.
We keep returning to the research as the work develops, so the design stays accountable to the person it is meant to serve.
